Line3 I [read] your letter a week last
Line 4 Saturday & as I could do nothing untill
Line 5 Monday, put it in my pocket & [though]
Line 6 as the Irishman said: tis I that says it_
Line 7 yet I must confess I utterly forgot the
Line 8 whole matter untill yesterday when
Line 9 your name was accidentally [mentioned] &
Line 10 instantly your neglected message occurred
Line 11 to my mind_ I hope you will accept
Line 12 this apology, [course] as it is, with the [position]

Line 27 General Assembly of the State of Ohio

Line 1 That the Board of Trustees of the Lane
Line 2 Seminary shall consist of any number
Line 3 not less than thirteen nor more than
Line 4 twenty five & [of] from any cause the
Line 5 number shall be reduced [unclear] below
Line 6 thirteen the remaining number shall
Line 7 be a competent board for the purpose of
Line 8 filling vacancies to make up the
Line 9 number of thirteen & from & after the
Line 10 next election of officers the Executive
Line 11 Committee of Lane Seminary shall
Line 12 consist only of the President the three
Line 13 Vice Presidents the Treasurer the Recording
Line 14 Secretary and the Corresponding Secretary
Line 15 who shall hold their Offices untill
Line 16 their successors are Elected, and the annual
Line 17 meeting of the board of trustees for the
Line 18 election of Officers shall be held on
Line 19 [the] 2nd Wednesday of June annually
Line 20 instead of the last Wednesday of
Line 21 October
