<text>This is an interview with Savannah Shangey who is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz where they teach in the Anthropology department. In this interview Shangey talks about how she always looks for how blackness shows up, typically in an educational environment, and how the afterlife of slavery is being lived in this moment by a variety of people. They also talk about ways in which gender and sexuality are not just vectors of oppression, but also of liberation. They also talk about how pedagogy is in the classroom, but it also about how you teach someone to be something, so for them she learnt that on the dance floor as those spaces were places where someone would figure out their identity. </text>
